An article in the Leicester Mercury on Friday 3 August confirmed that the proposals submitted by both Leicester County Council and Leicester City Council, for permanent sites for travellers, had been rejected by the government.

More importantly though, the article included a statement saying that the City Council 'has now decided it no longer wants to pursue a site on Ratby Lane'.
City Councillor Leader, Ross Willmott, said that it had no planning permission, poor access from the road and the Council could not afford it.

More that 3,500 people signed petitions to reject the proposals submitted by the previous administration.

Mrs Pauline Hulett has asked for her thanks to be passed on to everybody who supported her.

This is great news for the village, as well as Mrs Hulett.
