It has been announced (Leicester Mercury report 02/11/2006) that the proposal for a Travellers site on Ratby made has been shelved by the City Council.
Following talks earlier this week, it has been agreed that the County and City Councils will work together to find a more suitable site.

Whilst clearly this does not mean that the proposal will never be reconsidered, it does illustrate the dramatic effect that 'people power' can have on a situation.
Over 3,500 letters of protest have been delivered to the City Council.
